Srinagar – Aryan Village - Turtuk – Manali
Another unforgettable motorcycle expedition through the rugged terrain of Leh, Ladakh. Surrounded by the towering peaks of the Ladakh range, and seemingly unfathomable river gorges, you start your journey in the valley of the upper Indus River at an elevation of 11,500 feet (3,520m).
This meticulously crafted tour will journey through the serene landscapes of Sonamarg to the historic Kargil War Memorial and the charming Aryan Valley. Each day of riding promises to add to the exhilarating adventure and cultural immersion you are here to experience.
Traversing through high mountain passes like Khardung La, celebrated as one of the highest motorable passes in the world at 17,582ft (5359m), soaking in the breathtaking beauty of Pangong Tso before journeying back to Leh for exploration and relaxation. Conclude your epic odyssey with a thrilling journey through the majestic landscapes of Manali, leaving you with memories to cherish for a lifetime.
We request you arrive at Srinagar latest by 1 PM. Our representative/driver will pick you up (at the scheduled time only) from the Airport (in groups) and later take you on a 4 hr journey to the Sonamarg. Check-in at the hotel and go for a horse ride to Thajwas Glacier. We will meet in the evening for an orientation followed by dinner. Overnight stay at Sonamarg.
Start the day with a short test ride of the allocated bike. Convey the issues that need to fix. We will head to Kargil via Zoji La pass. Check your skills on the rough roads to the top of the mountain. We will spend time at the Kargil war memorial. You can spot tiger Hill, Tololing and Pt 4875 from there. We will continue the journey to Kargil. Overnight at the Hotel.
You will ride to the grain bowl of Ladakh. We will take broken roads to Hamboting La at 13380 ft. While you ride to Batalik, the view of the Laloung village is a treat to the eyes. You will reach the Aryan valley by the afternoon. Explore the village of the Brokpa people (A small segment of the Dard people). Overnight stay near the Indus River.
Early mornings are great for a village walk. We will ride on the narrow roads along the Indus River till the Khaltsi. Enjoy a delicious meal at the midpoint of our journey. Beyond Khaltse, enjoy riding on the beautiful stretch of the road. We will visit Magnetic Hill, the Zanskar-Indus River confluence and Gurudawara Patthar Sahib with our team. Enjoy the evening in the Leh Hotel.
Start the city exploration after a good breakfast. Feel free to wander the city – the market, the monasteries, and the palaces. Our team will guide you about places of your interest. You can consider the day to take complete rest. Overnight stay at Leh.
We will leave for a higher altitude place after breakfast. We will ascend to an altitude of 18000 ft, leaving the green valley. Enjoy the breathtaking view of the valley on the way to one of the highest motorable roads in the world. You get to spend ten minutes photographed at the top with 50% oxygen. Soon, you will descend to the beautiful valley along the Shyok river. We will make a brief stop at the Diskit Monastery before our today’s destination. Overnight stay in wooden / Swiss tents.
After breakfast, we will ride to the western part of Ladakh, the land of the last Baltis people in India. Turtuk was once occupied and administered by Pakistan till the 1971 war. Explore the cafes, schools and the museum of the only Balti village in Indi at the Indo-Pak border. Later, we ride back towards Nubra Valley. After spending some quality time at the Nubra dunes and the Double humped Bactrian camels, we will head back to our accommodation to enjoy the evening with a warm meal at Nubra Valley.
You will take the road along the river called Shyok (which translates to the river of death in the local language). Living true to the legend, the route will throw challenges like water crossing, sand storms, shooting stones and mud rubbles etc. Take a walk by the shore and devour the beauty of the holy Pangong. Enjoy the night by the brackish waters of the endorheic lake in deluxe tents.
The sunrise at Pangong is as beautiful as the sunsets. We leave the beautiful lake and head the life as we knew. Refrain photography in the army areas in Durbuk. We will ride off to the Chang La pass at an elevation of 17688 ft. The continuous ascend is meant to test your physical fitness on the bike and four-wheelers. You get a panoramic view of the entire Hemis National Park. Take a photograph at the top. We will then continue to Leh city. Go out to explore the Market in the evening with the local commute. Overnight at Leh.
You will head to a deserted location to spend the night with minimal human footprints. Many adventures and beautiful locations wait for you. You will cross 3 high altitude passes by riding on varied road conditions – Naki La (15,547 Ft), Lachalung La (16,616 Ft), and Tanglang La (17582 Ft). Not to mention the surreal experience of being photographed at Moray Plains (Only part of the Tibetan Plateau in India) and dining your lunch in a cramped hut at Pang is once in a lifetime experience. Enjoy the star-studded night in the trembling camps at Sarchu.
You will understand the primal way of survival after spending the night at Sarchu. We will ride onto the urban life to Manali after witnessing the blissful Suraj Taal and Deepak Taal while riding on Baralach La pass (16000 ft). The route will never disappoint you in throwing some great adventure in the road conditions and nature hurdles. You will enjoy transversing through the 9 Km long man-made marvel – The Atal Tunnel. Enjoy the evening at Manali. Overnight stay at the deluxe hotel.
